The City Health Office (CHO) will conduct a citywide clean-up drive to prevent the further increase in dengue cases in the city.

The clean-up, to be held simultaneously in the city’s 98 barangays, will be held on June 24.

Dr. Rodel Agbulos, City Health Officer, said that failure to address the increase in dengue cases may lead to an outbreak in the coming months.

The City Health Office has recorded 130 and 188 cases for April and May this year.  The figures are higher than the 97 and 130 cases recorded for the two months last year.

The CHO also recorded a total of five deaths from the month of January until the present.

Fatalities came from barangays of Culianan, Mercedes, San Jose, Tugbungan and Upper Calarian.

Earlier, the City Health Office conducted a Dengue Forum participated in by barangay chairpersons, kagawads, nurses and sanitary inspectors.

The participants came up with an action plan to be implemented in their respective barangays.  (RGAAGo)
