A total of four Maute and Abu Sayyaf members were arrested by authorities while trying to buy medicines at a Pagadian city pharmacy last Wednesday.

At around 11am, Pagadian police intelligence operatives arrested two female Maute supporters who were buying assorted medicines at the Mona Pharmacy in Zamboanga Motors Building along Rizal Avenue in Pagadian city.

Less than an hour later, police were able to nab two men, identified as Abu Sayyaf supporters, buying from the same pharmacy.

The Maute members were identified as sisters Reem Sacampong Arimao, 22 years old, married, a Clinical Instructor of the Mindanao Health Institute of Health Care Professionals; and her sister Amal Sacampong Arimao, 24, married and a volunteer of KAPAMAGOGOPA Incorporated situated in Iligan city.  Both are residents of Purok Buayaan, Ditsa-an, Ramain, Lanao del Sur.

The two male ASG supporters, meanwhile, were identified as Jadzrie Harad Saabdula, married, 50 years old, a nurse at the Tongkil (Sulu) Municipal Hospital and residing at Barangay Zone 2, Kasanyangan Village Barangay Asturia, Jolo Sulu and in San Jose Road, Zamboanga city; and Jamal Kalib Jamil, 18 years old, single, a fisherman and a resident of Luuk, Barangay Poblacion, Tongkil, Sulu.

Initial investigation showed that Saabdula is the brother of the late Abu Sayyaf leader Commander Global.

Lawmen were able to confiscate antibiotics, antibacterial, pain relievers, multivitamins and other types of post-traumatic medicines and medical supplies from the four suspects.

The report stated that the suspects were purchasing medicines and supplies to treat their wounded comrades in Sulu.

The suspects’ personal effects and the medicines were preserved for proper disposition.
