The Department of Health-9 is targeting to deworm a total of 700,000 school children in region 9 during the National School Deworming month to be held this July.

Dr. Sitti Nurussamsi Amilassan, DOH Infectious Cluster Head, said that of the 700,000 school children targeted in the region, at least 100,000 will come from Zamboanga city.

The program will be targeting children in public schools from Kindergarten to Senior High School aged 5 to 18 years old.

The children will be given Albendazole 400mg chewable tablet on a full stomach.

Amilassan assured that the activity will be done with strict supervision of school nurses and DOH health workers who will monitor any adverse effect after the medicines are administered.

Amilassan is asking for the cooperation and support of parents for their children who will undergo the deworming program.

The last deworming activity was held last January.  (RGAAGo)
