Celso lauds AFP/PNP for peaceful Ramadhan Print

Congressman Celso Lobregat lauded the police and military authorities here for its tight security imposed in the different mosques and other places of worship of our Muslim pilgrims during the celebration of Ramadan yesterday.

Lobregat said that the proper security plan was in placed and has resulted with no untoward incident that transpired all over the city during the biggest religious celebration which was observed by the Muslim residents here.

Amidst reports of alleged civil disturbance and rebellion in Mindanao to include Zamboanga City in the day of the Ramadan, authorities managed to remain vigilant and has imposed stricter measures to prevent any untoward incident to happen.

No less than OIC- City Police Director Supt. Jomari Albarico and Task Force Zamboanga Commander Col. Leonel Nicolas made their personal rounds and has supervised the deployment of their combined troops in the mosques where hundreds of pilgrims flocked to attend the morning prayer, after fasting for a period of 30 days.

Lobregat said that the alertness shown by the combined authorities in the city has infused a peaceful mind and environment to all our Muslim brothers who have properly celebrated the occasion together with their relatives and friends.

Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as the month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quoran to Muhammad, according to Islamic belief. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. – Dexter Yap/PR
