Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco- Salazar has apologized to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) staff for misunderstanding medical procedures during the treatment of 21 casualties of a vehicular accident the other week.

“I would like to apologize for and to those who were hurt by the statements I made but it’s really an eye opener for us that on my part, hende gale ta puede dale come el pasyente quien queda victima del aksidente,”  Climaco said.

It will be recalled that Climaco tried to give food to patients undergoing treatment, contrary to standard medical procedure.

After being reminded by hospital staff not to give food to patients, Climaco issued a statement on the reported poor service given at the emergency room.

Climaco initially asked ZCMC Hospital Administrator Dr Romeo Ong to investigate the incident.

Dr. Ong later informed the mayor about medical protocol followed by first responders in the emergency room properly supervised by medical doctors.

Hospital staff insisted that they followed medical procedure at the time. (Bhong Simbajon)
