Cops, jail guard, fireman arrested in pot session PDF Print E-mail

Six persons, composed of active policemen, a jail guard and a retired police officer, were arrested in three separate drug buy-bust operations in just one pension house in Dipolog city last Tuesday.

Four of the suspects were arrested while having a pot session in one of the rooms of the pension house.

A report from the Police Regional Office said that at around 6:58pm, Dipolog police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel conducted a buy bust operation at a pension house along Herrera Street that resulted to the arrest of Rolando Legados Mosqueda, 57, a retired member of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and a resident of Sangkol, Dipolog city.

During the operation, operatives spotted SPO1 Gilbert Tolentino James, 46, an active PNP member holding two cuts of aluminum foil while seated on a bed in the room.

Lawmen confiscated a small sachet of suspected shabu, two large-sized sachets containing the same substance, an empty sachets, P500 marked money, drug paraphernalia and a cellphone from Mosqueda while two sachets of suspected shabu and aluminum foil were seized from James.

After about four hours, the same team conducted a buy-bust operation in another room of the pension house and arrested an active policeman, a retired jail guard and a civilian while having a pot session.

The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Bastasa Velasco, 39; SPO1 Raul Mahometano Maguinsay, 47; and Retired Jail Senior Inspector Leopoldo Palomares Dangase, 63.

Confiscated from Velasco’s possession were 3 sachets of shabu, P500 marked money, drug paraphernalia, P1,200 cash, cell phone and empty cigarette pack.

Meanwhile, from the possession of Maguinsay, lawmen recovered a medium- sized sachet of suspected shabu, P1,000 cash, a cell phone and his issued 9mm pistol.

Recovered from Dangase were a medium size sachet and small size sachet of shabu, P650 cash and cell phone.

At 10:45 of the same date, the same team conducted another buy-bust operation in Santa Isabel, Dipolog City that led to the arrest of FO3 Ramil Legados Mosqueda, active member of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The team confiscated from his possession a brown color paper used as wrapper, rectangular heat sealed sachet containing shabu, a radio transceiver set, cell phone, paraphernalia, P500 marked money and wallet.

All the suspects were detained at the Dipolog City Police Station pending the filing of charges in court. – (Dan Toribio)
