The Zamboanga City High School Main, the biggest and most heavily populated school in Zamboanga city, was the site of the nationwide earthquake drill for this quarter.

Total participants for this year were 5,000 students and school officials evacuating about 15 buildings inside the campus for an earthquake scenario.

Philippine Volcanology and Seismology Officer in Charge Engr Allan Labayog said that the school was able to improve on implementing its disaster plan after it showed a decrease in the time it took for students to evacuate the buildings.

The school was able to shorten its evacuation time from 8 minutes  to 5 minutes this year.

Labayog explained that the participants were able to shorten their evacuation time by following the disaster response plans for each of the buildings inside the campus. (Liza Jocson)
