Isabela City Police Chief Supt Jerome Afuyog said that the city has reported a decrease in crime incidents in recent weeks.

Afuyog attributed the lower crime rate to the declaration of Martial Law by President Rodrigo Duterte, which he described as “having a good effect” on Isabela city’s security situation.

“Maganda ang epekto dahil bumaba ang crime rate,”  Afuyog said.

The Isabela Police Chief said that people have become more security conscious in an effort to prevent the Marawi incident from happening in their area.

Afuyog discounted any possibility of abuse because of safeguards included in the 1987 Constitution.

“Maingat kami sa pag implement nang hindi kami maka violate sa rights ng mga tao o suspects na lumabag sa batas,”  Afuyog said.  (Allen Abastillas)
