The City Disaster Risk Reduction Office (CDRRMO)  assured dresidents of a sound disaster plan in case of natural and man made incidents in Zamboanga.

Dr. Elmier Apolinario, CDRRMO Head, said that the city has plans prepared for human induced violence, terrorism, bombing, kidnapping, fire and other such incidents.

Apolinario said that the office has also been coordinating with agencies such as the police, military, health and others involved in disaster response and mitigation.

“We have prepared several contingency plans but we hope that we will not implement,” Apolinario said.

Apolinario made the statement during a press conference where Zamboanga officials addressed ongoing speculations regarding its security situation.

During the press conference, Apolinario appealed to residents not to send or post messages that may cause alarm and instead forward these to their office for verification.  (RGAAGo)
