Traffic violations in Zamboanga city have decreased to five percent this year following anti corruption plans implemented by the Duterte administration, according to a Land Transportation Office official.

Land Transportation Office-9 Chief of Operations Olloy Jalaluddin said that the anti corruption campaign and the call to obey and follow traffic laws have greatly contributed to the decrease in traffic violations.

“Kailangan talaga sa leader may iron hand para ipatupad ang batas,” said Jalaluddin.

Meanwhile, Jalaluddin also attributed the decrease in violations to the implementation of the new traffic scheme by the local government.

He said that the move to declare as one-way several streets in the city have relieved traffic congestion in major thoroughfares.

He however recommended the addition of traffic personnel to guide and assist motorists.  (Allen Abastillas)
