Lamitan Council votes to extend Martial Law Print

The Lamitan City Council has approved a resolution during its regular session on Wednesday. supporting an extension on the implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao.

Lamitan Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay cited the decrease in crime incidents in Lamitan noted after the implementation of Martial Law.

“Cuntao ya lang gayod el record del blotter del City Police.  Antes two numbers el blotter record, ahora single ya lang,” said the Vice Mayor.

He said that most of the incidents contained in the blotter mostly pertain to domestic violence and physical injuries since Martial Law was declared by President Rodrigo Duterte.

For her part, Mayor Rose Furigay said that the security situation of Lamitan city has noticeably improved after the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.

Lawless elements are reportedly hesitating to enter the city due to the strict measures implemented by the military and the police.

Lamitan is implementing a “No ID, No Entry” policy.  (Allen Abastillas)
