Celso to push P600-M ZCMC infra and equipment PDF Print E-mail

“We will push for a budget of more than PhP600-Million for Zamboanga city Medical Center (ZCMC) infrastructure and equipment in the 2018 General Appropriations Act.”

This was revealed by District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat in a meeting held at the ZCMC administration office recently.

In the said meeting which was requested by Congressman Lobregat, Dr. Romeo Ong, ZCMC Medical Director presented the status of the on-going projects and the priorities and needs of the said government hospital.

Dr. Ong revealed that in line with the Master Development Plan (MDP), ZCMC shall establish and develop a Cancer Center, Heart&Lung Center, Brain Center, Trauma Center, Reproductive Health Specialty Center, Nematology Specialty Center, Burn Treatment Specialty Center and Bio_Poison and Toxicology Specialty Center.

To support this plan, among the major items needed are the following: for infrastructure, P250M for the completion of the new Central Block building, P100M for the development of the Heart-Lung Center, and P30M for the development of the Brain Center.

The needed equipmentinclude: P97M for the Heart-Lung Center, P50M for the Brain Center,P40M for the Trauma Center, P31M for the Reproductive Health Center, and P15.5M for the Nematology Center.

Also present during the meeting were Councilors Lilibeth Nuño, Myra Paz Valderossa-Abubakar, Rudy Lim and key officials of ZCMC.

“Although we cannot guarantee that all these will be eventually included in the 2018 General Appropriations Act, we will push and press very hard to include the needed infrastructure and equipment in the budget,” Lobregat said.

Dr. Romeo Ong, thanked Congressman Lobregat for the continuous and consistent support given to ZCMC especially in terms of budget appropriations. Lobregat is one of the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations in the House of Representatives.

On his part, Lobregat said that the meeting is part of his congressional responsibility to know the needs and priorities of the hospital and also partly his oversight function to monitor the ongoing progress of government projects.

“If the over P600-Million budget for infrastructure and equipment is approved, this will be the biggest annual budget of ZCMC,” Lobregat said. – Dexter Yap
