Government troops recovered two kidnap victims on board a motorcycle at Daang Puti Patikul Sulu last Friday.

A Western Mindanao Command report identified the two victims as Reyjim Rocabo, 41; and Roel Leones, 37.  Both are residents of Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

The report said that the two were recovered after miltiary troopers intercepted a motorcycle they were riding on along Daang Puti, Patikul Sulu last Friday at 5pm.

There was no further information on who was driving the motorcycle at the time the victims were intercepted.

Based on the report however, the victims said that they were kept under the custody of a certain Ben Tatoo and Almujer Yadah along with other kidnap victims.

Rocabo and Leones are crew members of the FB Ramona 2, a fishing vessel that was ambushed by the Abu Sayyaf off Celebes sea last December.

The vessel’s captain, Noel Besconde, was beheaded by their Abu Sayyaf captors led by Almujer Yadah at Sitio Pantay Minol Barangay Tanum in Patikul last April.

Last June 8, Roy Ramos, a crew member was rescued by government forces within the vicinity of Sitio Kandabaw, Barangay Lagtok in Talipao, Sulu after he was able to escape from the Abu Sayyaf.

Follow up operations are being conducted by the military to rescue the remaining 20 kidnap victims being kept by the Abu Sayyaf. (Liza Jocson)
