Police have rescued a 16-year old girl and arrested a suspected human trafficker during massive inter agency operations launched at the Zamboanga International Airport last Sunday.

A Police Regional Office-9 report identified the suspect as Khair Rjan Bapora Julkipli, 32 years old, single and presently residing at Barangay Tabungon, Liloan, Southern Leyte.

The 16-year old victim, a certain Linda, was reported to have been missing since June 24 and was believed to have been taken by the suspect who is also her uncle.

Police said that Linda was brought by the suspect to different places where she was sexually exploited for two weeks.

Based on the report, the suspect has several pending cases of human trafficking and has connections with other groups involved in the illegal exploitation of minors.

The suspect was temporarily detained at the Zamboanga City Police Station 8.

Units responsible for the arrest of the suspect include the Zamboanga City Police Station -8, WCPC-MFU, Department of Social Welfare and Development-9, Liloan Police Station in Southern Leyte.  (LAJ)
