The Zamboanga City Police and the Bureau of Immigration have combined forces in monitoring and tracking foreigners who pose a security threat to the city.

This after the pending deportation of two Indonesian nationals who were turned over to the Bureau of Immigration.  The Indonesians were arrested after presenting a falsified identification card upon check in at a local hotel the other week.

Zamboanga City Police Office Chief Supt Diomarie Albarico said that they have organized a special unit to specifically track down the whereabouts of foreign nationals staying in Zamboanga city.

The move is in line with Zamboanga Mayor Beng Climaco- Salazar’s directive to intensify the drive against unwanted foreigners who may pose a threat to security.

Albarico said that even prior to the declaration of Martial Law, the Zamboanga City Police Office has already adopted certain procedures in monitoring foreign nationals due to previous reports of the presence of supporters of local terrorists.

“ZCPO has not lowered its guard in the conduct of intelligence gathering and monitoring.  We have coordination with the immigration office to keep track of them,” Albarico stressed. (Bhong Simbajon)
