40 suspected communists harass AFP Special Forces Print

Around 40 suspected members of the Communist party harassed Army Special Forces and militiamen near a construction site in Sindangan Zamboanga del Norte yesterday.

The incident happened at Sitio Bawa, Bucana Sindangan Zamboanga del Norte within the vicinity of Edmario S. Revelo Construction site.

The communists targeted AFP Special Forces together with 11 militiamen from the Bucana Patrol Base who were said to be guarding the site.

The firefight was said to have lasted for ten minutes, after which the suspects escaped towards an unknown direction.

Troops were able to recover M203 ammunition, fifteen improvised explosive devices, medical paraphernalia and subversive documents.

Philippine Army personnel are conducting pursuit operations.  (Dan Toribio)
