Two killed in shootout with police Print

Two armed men were killed during a shootout with  police operatives in Purok Diwalwal, barangay Dao, Pagadian City last Monday morning.

Police Regional Information Officer Chief Insp. Helen Galvez identified the fatalities as Aivan Flores Mercado and a certain Jay-Ar.

They sustained bullet wounds in their body and died on the spot.

Initial investigation showed that at around 9:30 a.m. a concerned citizen called up the police station and reported that two suspicious persons armed with handguns were sighted in the area.

Acting on the report, policemen swooped down on the area and spotted the two men who were about to leave aboard a motorcycle.

At this point, policemen called their attention but one of them drew a handgun and opened fire towards the lawmen.

Policemen retaliated by firing their guns in defines, a situation that resulted to the death of the two suspects.

Police recovered from the scene three spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol, one empty shell of  a 9MM caliber pistol with a magazine, .45 caliber pistol with a magazine and a Rusi motorcycle.

Police also recovered from Jar-R’s possession one black key, face mask, handkerchief, P150 in bills, while from the possession of Mercado, police found brown wallet with assorted documents in the name of a certain Camlian Palong-Palong and TIN ID of Mercado. – (Dan Toribio)
