Lamitan city holds training for marginalized sector Print

The Lamitan city government has conducted two programs on marketing and computer literacy operations last Wednesday to benefit marginalized sectors of the community.

A computer internet literacy program was held for members of the women sector and out of school youth.

The participants, who come from the city’s 45 barangays, was trained on computer operations and how to use the internet.

Meanwhile, another program was conducted on business operations and marketing to teach Yakan weavers on how to sell their products both locally and internationally.

Topics include how to register businesses with the DTI, accounting and bookkeeping practices and marketing and advertising techniques through the use of tri-media.

Lecturers also taught the participants on how their products can reach the international market through the use of the internet.

Lamitan Mayor Rose Furigay said that the program was conducted in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry- Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and the Lamitan Tourism office. (Allen Abastillas)
