The major interconnection works in the west coast undertaken by the ZCWD has been completed.

The District is currently conducting disinfection works in the distribution lines from Acapulco in Brgy. Sinunuc to the intersection of San Roque and Sutrville where injection points 9A and 9B are located.

According to Engr. Teotimo C. Reyes, Jr., Production Department Manager, disinfection is necessary prior to the commissioning of the line“to ensure that the quality of water meet the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSD).  Quality check on the water passing through the lines has to be conducted and it will take another day for the build-up of water and volume to conduct further tests”. Engr. Reyes added hence work will continue until Saturday and at the latest Sunday.

Once water passing through the pipelines are compliant with PNSWD standards, an initial volume of 30 million liters per day (MLD) water from the Pamucutan Water Treatment Plant will start to energize these lines and availableto ZCWD connected households.

While disinfection works and water build-up is undergoing areas in these areas are expected to experience low water pressure.  Meanwhile, water tanker deliveries will augment water supply in the areas as work is ongoing, Eng’r Reyes added.

Customers in the affected areas are advised to store water in clean and sealed containers to prevent contamination, upon energization of the line and resumption of service, clients are advised to expect turbid (“malubog”) water as sediments in the residential house plumbing system are dislodged and to check plumbing system for possible leaks due to increased water pressure.

Water service will resume immediately upon completion of works and customers will expect a steady supply of water in the affected areas.

ZCWD are reminding customers to conserve water and use water wisely. For queries and assistance please contact ZCWD Customer Care Division at 955 – 1007 – 1008 (Mon. – Fri) 8:00AM – 5:00PM and after office hours 990 – 1003 for Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. (RRJR, CREAS-ZCWD)
