CHO sends health team to Marawi PDF Print E-mail

The City Health Office (CHO) has sent a team of doctors and nurses to Marawi City to assist in the medical needs of families displaced by the ongoing siege.

The Zamboanga health team together with personnel from the Department of Health (DOH)- Regional Field Office-9  left for Marawi July 25 and will serve in the area in coordination with the Marawi City local government until August 2.

City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos said the team consists of doctors, nurses, social workers and sanitary inspectors and is tasked to assist the Marawi LGU in providing medical attention to internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently housed in evacuation centers in Marawi and the neighboring provinces.

Earlier on, the City government sent relief goods consisting of 300 sacks of rice, noodles and sardines for the siege victims through the Philippine Navy and the Western Mindanao Command. The city is also assisting IDPs from Marawi who are staying with their relatives in Talon-talon, Tumaga and Sta. Maria in this city.

Last week, Mayor Beng Climaco together with the security sector met with Maranao leaders in the city to inform them about the city’s assistance to Marawi siege victims. The leaders, meanwhile expressed their support to the LGU and the police and military in their security efforts as they vowed to closely coordinate with authorities in the profiling and tagging of the Marawi evacuees.
