“Tiene man ordinance el local government, tiene fines and sanctions, bien falta el gente del diaton ordinance.  We have to sit down and amend el ordinance,” said Agbulos.

Agbulos recommends increasing fines and penalties under the ordinance.

Zamboanga city’s Anti-smoking ordinance, authored by Councilor Myra Paz Valderrosa- Abubakar, was implemented last June 2014.

The city ordinance prohibits smoking inside enclosed public places and public utility vehicles.

Persons violating the ordinance face fines from P500 to P2,000.  Establishments will also have to pay fines ranging from P1,000 to P5,000. (RGAAGo)
