A P100-million Motor Vehicle Inspection System (MVIS) facility will be constructed inside the Zamboanga Special Economic Zone by November this year.

The aim of the facility is to check on the roadworthiness of vehicles in the region.

The MVIS was described as a state of the art inspection system which includes a building and equipment to determine vehicle roadworthiness.

Once established, all vehicles must pass rigid inspection in the facility before registration.

“Yung paglalagay ng MVIS requirement sa batas, lahat ng gumagalang sasakyan gumagamit ng ating lansangan should be roadworthy,” said Edgar Galvante, Land Transportation Office Assistant Secretary.

One factor of road accidents are improperly maintained vehicles and improper inspection.

The establishment of the MVIS is aimed towards lessening road accidents.  (RGAAGo)
