As authorities step up the against human trafficking and illegal recruitment, four more would-be-victims of human trafficking were rescued by the police in Barangay Tumaga last Tuesday night.

A police report said that a 30-year-old woman appeared at the central police station and reported that four women spotted at the house of Paksatul Anding in Sto. Niño, Tumaga were scheduled to leave for another country.

Policemen rushed to Tumaga and cooridinated with the barangay council before proceeding to the house of Anding where they later found the four women ages 20, 16, 19 and 15, and residents of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

During investigation, the four women failed to produce documents allowing them leave the country and work abroad.

The four women were turned over to the Women Crisis Center in Sta. Barbara while Anding and Nena Hasim, 41, of Baliwasan were invited for further questioning. — Dan Toribio Jr.
