2 public markets set to undergo P44-M rehab Print

The main public market downtown and the Sta. Cruz complex are slated to undergo rehabilitation and improvement with an overall budget of P44.92 million, the Office of the City Administrator reported on Monday.

For the main market, the local government earmarked P23.6 million for construction, rehabilitation, and improvement works for the main market, with an additional P5 million  apiece going in to the improvement of buildings G and F of the main public market.

Meanwhile, the rehabilitation and improvement of the Sta. Cruz commercial complex will have a budget of P11.32 million. City Administrator Apple Go said this budget will be used to improve Building 5 (Fish and Meat section) as well as the roof repair and repainting of Buildings 1-5.

Assistant City Administrator for Operations Cesar Raz pointed out that the rehabilitation seeks to address the issues and concerns at the main market, specifically on sanitation, ventilation, and lighting, and will begin sometime on November this year..
