Zamboanga city needs more effort to promote and support the Arts.

This was the conclusion of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) on the status of Culture and the Arts in Zamboanga city.

Marco Miranda, NCCA Executive Committee member, said that Zamboanga’s heritage is rich in culture and the arts and the city itself is replete with skilled and talented artists.

This can be seen in festivals held in the city such as the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival and other tourism-oriented activities that focus on Zamboanga’s language, cuisine and culture.

He said however that more promotion and marketing is needed to make the talents themselves known outside Zamboanga.

“Siguro kulang pa ng marketing, promotion, linking with a lot of organizations and even the media to help in promoting the cultural heritage and the artistic excellence of Zamboangueños here in Zamboanga city,” said Miranda.

Miranda also recommended mainstreaming of culture and the arts to make it more interesting to millennials or the youth.  (RGAAGo)
