Former Dipolog city Mayor Evelyn Uy was recently elected as Vice Chairperson of the Galing Pook Foundation, an organization committed to recognizing good governance practices among local government units.

The chairperson of the foundation is Ma. Lourdes Fernando, former Mayor of Marikina city.

Uy took over from Miguel Dominguez, former Governor of Sarangani Province.

Uy will serve in the foundation for the next seven years.

The Galing Pook Foundation is a policy program that recognizes innovative practices of local government units on good governance.

Its screening process is based on positive results shown by the local government  and its impact of good practices on the constituents.

Partners of the Galing Pook Foundation are the Ford Foundation, Department of Interior and Local Government, the Local Government Academy, the Land Bank of the Philippines, the Philippine Postal Corporation and the SEAOIL Foundation.  (Allen Abastillas)
