DAR mulls cacao project in Lumayang Print

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is drawing up plans to set up a cacao production area in barangay Lumayang to assist the barangay’s Agrarian Reform Community.

Julita A. Ragandang, DAR-9  Regional Director, said that a feasibiity study is now underway for the scheduled start of the project during the latter part of the year.

Based on the plan, the ARC will be provided with seedlings, training, support services and machineries.

More than 200 members of the ARC are expected to benefit from the project.

“Cacao, por causa amo se el uno del maga crops that the local government unit not only in Zamboanga city alone but to other provinces like Zamboanga del Norte and Sibugay, mucho cacao na ARC,”  Ragandang explained.gybjnu

The project will be implemented under the ConVERGE (Convergence on Value Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment.). The goal of the program is to contribute to poverty reduction through the promotion of sustainable livelihood activities based on key commodities that are competitive in the area. (R.G Go)
