A no parking zone for all vehicles has been declared in the entire stretch of Maria Clara Street and part of N.S. Valderosa St. at all times per Executive Order BC 282 and concurred by Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution 1064.

The same EO designates the parking area adjacent to the City Hall annex building as the parking area for government officials and employees of City Hall.

Mayor Beng Climaco said the order is in line with City Government’s thrust to reduce or eliminate on-street parking through relocating parking slots of government vehicles along Maria Clara Street. She said officials holding office at the City Hall must also have “a safe and decent parking space in dignity to the position and easy access to office in order not to disrupt nor delay the normal routinary function of the city government and the delivery of public service which the citizens requires.”

The chief executive, based on section 4, Article XII of City Ordinance 248 otherwise known as the Revised Traffic Code is empowered to designate certain streets as no parking zones to bring about the smooth free flow of traffic.

Specifically, no parking one is declared in the entire stretch of Maria Clara Street from its junction of N.S. Valderosa St. – Maria Clara Street to the junction of Zaragosa St.- Maria Clara St.; the part of N.S. Valderosa St. from its junction of N.S. Valderosa St. – P. Lorenzo St. to the junction of N.S. Valderosa St.- Corcuera Street.

Exemption from the coverage of EO 282 are vehicles responding to emergency situations such as ambulances, fire trucks and police/military vehicles.

The order shall take effect upon concurrence by the SP and thereafter until revoked. (Sheila Covarrubias)
