The Zamboanga City Council is in the process of creating a Dangerous Drugs Board to provide policies relative to programs involving dangerous drugs.

The proposal was embodied  in proposed ordinance 2017-33 entitled an ordinance adopting RA 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and creating the Zamboanga City Dangerous Drugs Board (ZCDDB) and appropriating funds therefore.

The ordinance was authored by District 1 Councilors Cesar Jimenez Sr., Josephine Pareja, and ABC President Jerry Perez.

Councilor Cesar Jimenez said that the proposed ordinance was suggested by the Zamboanga City Police after observing that the city has no official organization aimed towards providing policies on dangerous drugs.

The proposed Dangerous Drugs Board will be headed by the

City Mayor and have for its members the Vice Mayor, Council Chairperson on Anti Drugs, peace and order, the City Health Officer and the Zamboanga City Police Chief.

Jimenez said that the first committee hearing for the ordinance will be held this September 4.  (RGAAGo)
