Zambo city receives DSWD Child Friendly seal Print

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has chosen Zamboanga City as among the 33 local government units in Region 9 to receive the 2016 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Ma. Socorro Rojas received the child-friendly certificate during the policy forum headed by DSWD Regional Director Araceli Solamillo yesterday morning at the Grand Astoria Hotel.

The award was given to local government units that passed the annual mandatory Child Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).

The CFLGA was first conducted in 2014 by the DILG with its 12 indicators. Among its indicators include increased number of children attending day care services, reduced number of children who are victims of violence and abuse, and absence or reduced number of child labor cases.

Other recipients of child-friendly seal were the cities of Dapitan and Dipolog to include the towns of Mutia, Polanco, Rizal, Leon Postigo and Tampilisan, all in Zamboanga del Norte.

Likewise, Pagadian City along with the municipalities of Aurora, Guipos, Vicenzo Sagun, Lapuyan, Lakewood, Dumingag, Tabina, Bayog, Dimataling, Molave, San Pablo, San Miguel, Sominot, Ramon Magsaysay, Midsalip, Pitogo, Margosatubig, Tambulig, Mahayag and Tukuran, all of Zamboanga del Sur were also declared child-friendly local government units.

The municipalities of Buug, Imelda, Ipil and Naga, all of Zamboanga Sibugay Province also bagged the same award.-(Vic Larato/PR)
