9,000 eggs from Pampanga intercepted Print

More than 9,000 pieces of eggs suspected of being contaminated with Avian Flu were intercepted by Quarantine officials in Zamboanga city last Tuesday.

The eggs, loaded in 32 crates, reportedly came from Pampanga and were transported to Zamboanga city via a commercial vessel.

The cargo was marked bound for Palawan/ Zamboanga.

The shippers remain unidentified pending further inquiry.

Five of the crates were said to have been sent back to Manila while the rest were burned before being buried yesterday afternoon inside the Bureau of Quarantine premises in Zamboanga.  (Liza Jocson)
