Police were able to confiscate fifteen sacks of ammonium nitrate and other bomb components during a buy-bust operation in Arena Blanco at around noon yesterday.

Regional Special Operations Group9 Chief, Chief Inspector Geronimo Miniosa said that a suspect, identified as Nasang Pagal Aliasan, 38, was nabbed during the operation.

A police poseur-buyer initially entered into a transaction with Aliasan to buy a kilo of ammonium nitrate in exchange for P500.

After the transaction was completed, policemen who were surrounding Aliasan’s house, proceeded to arrest the suspect.

Police were able to recover marked money, plastic cellophanes containing ammonium nitrate, blasting caps and detonating cords.

Authorities also recovered fifteen sacks of ammonium nitrate hidden inside Aliasan’s house.

Aliasan, a resident of Isabela Basilan, told police that the bomb components were supplied to him by a still unidentified person from Tawi Tawi.

Aliasan also admitted to selling the bomb components to other clients in the city.

Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt Billy Beltran inspected the area after the buy-bust operation.

Police are preparing charges against Aliasan in court.  (Dan Toribio)
