Army killed in shootout with police Print

An army soldier was killed in a shootout with policemen in barangay Monte Alegre, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, Wednesday afternoon.

Killed was Cpl. Rodillo Bartolome y Torres, 33, married of barangay Katipay, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur and was assigned at the 53IB and detailed in Marawi City.

A police report disclosed that around 3:45 p.m., Oscar Asuelo, a jeepney dispatcher reported to the Police Action Center that a man (Bartolome), armed with a gun, was sighted in a store owned by Dencia Maddadaro.

Acting on the report, PO2 Ronald Zeros and PO1 Michael Bullanday swooped down at the area.

However, when the lawmen arrived at the place, Bartolome drew his gun prompting the former to shoot him.

Bartolome sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Police recovered Bartolome’s .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
