Nine persons were arrested during a raid in Zone 8, barangay Ayala at dawn  Saturday.

A report from the Police Regional Office identified those arrested as Eric Abad Acain, 40, John Paul Susulan Manaco, 19, Ronald Orion Sangan, 26, Christian Ivo Guadalupe Larena, 22, Alfred Jay Gonzales Dano, 22, Carlo Bacalzo Macrohon, 19, Rugin German Esperat, 25, Paul Peejay Legara Juaton, 29 and Jamir Samblad Yusop, 21, all residents of the said place.

The raid was carried out by operatives of the RACO9, CIDG9, WCPC and Intelligence Section of the City Police Office, on the strength of a search warrant for violations of R.A. 10175, otherwise known as the Cyber Crime Prevention Act and R.A. 10591 otherwise known as firearms law.

Police said that Acain was the target of the search but the eight others were also in the area during the serving of the search warrant.

Initial investigation showed that Acain and his cohorts were using minors in their cybersex business and majority of their clients were gays.

They were also reported of having firearms.

During the raid, policemen recovered 11 sets of computers, 11 cellphones, six laptop computers, 7 wifi modems, internet cables, one hard drive and smart pocket wifi.

The suspects were detained while the seized items were placed under police custody pending the filing of charges in court against them. – Dan Toribio
