The annual Hermosa Festival Street Dance is now accepting entries until September 19.

The Street Dance competition, a much-awaited spectacle of the Hermosa Festival, will be held on October 11, from the City Fire Station to Paseo del Mar. It will be composed of two phases, namely the street dancing and showdown components which will account for 30% and 70% of the total score, respectively.

The deadline for registration will be on September 19, and will also serve as the orientation date for meeting for participating contingents.

Three categories will be introduced for this year’s competition. The Elementary category will be for elementary schools in Zamboanga City, while the High School and College Category will be for secondary and tertiary schools in the City.

Meanwhile, the introduction of the third category, the Open Category, will open the competition to groups, organizations, institutions and communities in Zamboanga City as well as the Zamboanga Peninsula region.

A much beloved and anticipated activity, the Street Dance has always attracted crowds with its energy and colorful presentations. Participants are encouraged to highlight the rich and colorful culture of Zamboanga City along with samba and latin dances as highlights.

Open category participants are allowed to showcase the traditions, cultures, and dances of their own locality, however, prayer and homage to the Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar with the Child Jesus must be incorporated in the performance.
