House Deputy Speaker Beng Climaco over the weekend personally handed out health insurance cards to 717 new and renewed members in line with her continuing advocacy on health.

The distribution of the insurance cards on August 20-21, held in partnership with the Philippine Health Insurance Company, composed the first batch this year. The areas covered in the distribution were Rio Hondo, Pamucutan, Patalon, Sinubong, Mariki, Sinunuc, Baluno, Talisayan, Limpapa, Sta. Barbara, Zone 3, Zone 4 and Labuan.

The recipients composed of barangay officials, barangay health workers and indigent families who were identified by the barangay councils. Also included in the coverage are other sectors such as the airport skycap members, candle vendors, porters and parish volunteers.

The continuing health insurance program is one of the priority projects of Cong. Climaco parallel to her medical assistance lodged under the Zamboanga City medical Center where she allocates a portion of her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

“This is our little way to allow our constituents in the district access to health services and get the proper medical attention,” Climaco stressed.
Other areas are now being scheduled to finally complete the distribution.
