A retired policeman and an alleged drug pusher were shot and killed in two separate incidents in barangays Baliwasan and Ayala, Thursday night.

Police Regional Information Officer, Chief Insp. Helen Galvez identified the fatalities as Retired SPO1 Abubakar Gulam y Hamad, 53, married of Manggal Drive, Baliwasan and Sonny Alabi y Kasan, 32, married of Zone 5, Ayala.

Initial police investigation showed that Gulam and his wife, Dina Gulam y Sangkula, 40, just came from the public market at  around 6:45 p.m. and while they were walking towards their house along the interior portion of Manggal Drive in Baliwasan, the gunman surfaced and shot her husband three times at close range.

Police said that when the victim plunged on the ground, the gunman left the scene.

Police recovered a spent shell in the area during their ocular investigation.

The victim’s wife failed to recognize the gunman.

Meanwhile, Alabi was walking home at around 8:40 p.m. when the gunman, aboard a motorcycle, arrived and shot him several times along Zone 7 in Ayala.

The gunman quickly left the place onboard his motorcycle after the victim fell on the ground.

Police recovered five spent shells and a deformed slug of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

The victim’s brother, Julie Alabi, told the police that Sonny had allegedly been involved in the proliferation of prohibited drugs in the said place.

Julie added that Sonny allegedly fooled his customers several times by giving “tawas” instead of shabu.
