The Social Security System (SSS) Zamboanga has reopened its processing center yesterday to serve and cater to SSS members in the region.

SSS AVP for Western Mindanao Division, Rodrigo Filoteo said in an interview that after a week’s dry run, the processing center is now operational and being manned by eight individuals.

Before, all claims such as maternity, sickness, disability, death, and retirement still passes SSS Manila as SSS Zamboanga can only receive the claims but cannot process.

The office in Zamboanga scrutinizes the completeness of the documents, scan the documents, and send it to SSS central office where it takes three months before the claims can be processed.

“Claims submitted in Western Mindanao will be processed here and this will be very fast depende sa completeness of documents unlike before it will take you three months. This time, basta complete el document maga one week lang el processing and we can answer immediately cosa el problema,” Filoteo said.

Recall, Former SSS president and CEO Emilio de Quiros, Jr., closed in 2012 the SSS processing center in Zamboanga as the SSS central office opened the Central Processing Center where claims from Western Mindanao previously passes.

SSS Western Mindanao has more or less two million members and it covers Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zambaoga del Sur, Zamboaonga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, and Isabela City. (R.G. A A. Go)
