The Special Action Force (SAF), an elite unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP), trained in both law enforcement and combat operations, announced the opening of recruitment of Police Officers to generate five more battalions in their corps in order to defend the country against future internal and external threats, as well as to build credible Armed and Police Forces in the PNP.

The additional recruitment was a directive from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to DILG and PNP during a Press Conference at the House of Representative on August 24, 2017.

Sr. Supt. Romulo Cleve Taboso, Chief, Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division (RPHRDD), said that in order to promptly address the concerns of the president, the processing of the 2nd Cycle PO1 Attrition Recruitment Program is hereby stopped to pave the way for the PNP-SAF to recruit new PO1s.

Taboso said, the PRO9 through the PNP Online Recruitment Application System (PNP ORAS) will facilitate the transfer of the three hundred thirty one (331) police applicants of the attrition recruitment program who are willing to transfer their applications to SAF.

SAF applicants will undergo Public Safety Basic Recruit Course for six months at National Training Institute for SAF School in Laguna and Field Training Program for another six months. Then they will proceed with the specialized training course which is the Commando Course for six months.

Qualified applicants can file their applications at the ORPHRDD, Police Regional Office 9, Camp Col. Romeo A. Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City and eventually may register through the PNP Online Recruitment Application System (PNP ORAS). (Dan Toribio)
