Mayor Beng Climaco marks her birthday today, September 7 with activities aimed to showcase as well as further enhance and expand government services.

First on the list will be the turnover of vehicles to the police and the barangays and dump trucks to the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) set at the City Hall grounds at 8:30am. To be turned over to the police are 3 Ford Pick-up trucks for the Sangali, Curuan and Vitali Police Sub-stations while 5 L-300 vans will be turned over to the barangay councils of Calabasa, Divisoria, Victoria, Lanzones and Manalipa.  The CEO will get 2 brand new dump trucks to augment its fleet of heavy equipment.

The turnover ceremony will be preceded by a surprise program for the mayor to be tendered by the City Department heads at 8am also at the City hall grounds.

At 9am, City Hall will roll out Dia del Alcalde, the city’s free service caravan for City Government employees as well as the public. The free services include City Health Office’s medical and dental services; veterinary services from the Office of the City Vet; agricultural demonstrations from the Office of the City Agriculturist and civil registration from the Registrar’s Office. Task Force Zamboanga personnel will also offer free hair cut while a private company will offer free eye consultation, as the Social Services System (SSS) will also serve clients in City Hall.

Back to back with the Dia del Alcalde program will also be the turnover of 433 houses on stilts, constructed under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) in Vale Vista III in barangay Kasanyangan. The ceremony will be held at the City Coliseum in Tetuan.

The 433 families to be transferred to Vale Vista III from the different transitory sites compose the second and last batch of occupants in the housing package with a total of 866 housing slots.

The turnover of the Z3R houses also forms part of the activities leading to the commemoration of the 2013 Zamboanga siege on Saturday, September 9. (Sheila Covarrubias/PR)
