The Social Security System (SSS) - Western Mindanao will fully implement the Warrant of Distraint, Levy and Garnishment (WDLG) next year on delinquent employers.

SSS AVP for Western Mindanao Division, Rodrigo Filoteo said in an interview that this provision is covered under RA 1161, the original SSS law and is also included in the amended RA 8282 passed in 1997.

He said, despite its existence, the said provision of the law was never implemented for the past 59 years.

According to Filoteo, there are 6,000 to 8,000 delinquent employers in the SSS Western Mindanao area and this is the focus of the WDLG. The amount involved according to Filoteo is almost P50 million.

The SSS official assured that by next year, the said provision will be fully implemented.

When WDLG will be implemented, SSS will padlock establishments of delinquent employers.

“We are hoping that we will not go to the WDLG. Our employers are supposed to be our partners in the growth of any enterprise but sometimes, we have to set example because there are so many delinquent employers. They thought we are just joking,” Filoteo said.

The communication team of the SSS will also be active in the information dissemination to make sure all are informed before the implementation.

“Sigi kita na lay contra man problema tu,” Filoteo reminded the employers.

SSS Western Mindanao have more or less two million members and it covers Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zambaoga del Sur, Zamboaonga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, and Isabela City. (R.G. A A. Go)
