Police Regional Director, Sr. Supt. Billy Beltran initiated the conduct of a Peace Forum held at a local hotel in Zamboanga City last September 5, 2017, in coordination with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Government of the Republic of the Philippines-Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (GPH-AHJAG) and Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH).

The forum was attended by PNP officials, AFP Commanders, Local Chief Executives in Zamboanga Peninsula and representatives of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The peace forum was held to give updates on the current development of the peace process and other related issues affecting the peace and security in Zamboanga Peninsula.

Beltran wants the peace agreement to be realized to attain lasting peace in Mindanao. He also enjoined the support of the MNLF and MILF on the peace process so that peace and development in Mindanao will be finally achieved.

On the other hand, Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas, Chief of the Peace Process and Development Office of the PNP National Headquarters, appealed to GPH-AHJAG to have a strong voice on the issue of peace agreement and not just remain neutral at all times.

He also suggested that those violating the peace process should be made answerable for their actions. (Dan Toribio)
