Beng dedicates birthday ‘Dia’ for City workers, public PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco reaffirmed her commitment to serve Zamboanga City as she dedicated her birthday celebration to public service with the conduct of the Dia de Alcalde caravan at City Hall.

In a special rollout, the Dia de Alcalde offered a wide array of free services ranging from medical and dental check-ups to haircut and massage services to employees and clientele of the local government during its half-day operation at City Hall premises yesterday morning.

“Ta rindi gat yo gracias con Dios por este oportunidad de sirvi con ustedes and I pray that the Lord will really indeed bless the City of Zamboanga,” Climaco said.

The chief executive opened the Dia de Alcalde at City Hall grounds following a simple birthday ceremony which also saw the turnover of service vehicles to local police and barangays.

A manifestation of her firm commitment to security and to strengthening the capacities of barangays, Climaco turned over 3 Ford pick-up trucks to the Sangali, Curuan, and Vitali police stations, 5 L-300 vans for barangays Calabasa, Divisoria, Victoria, Lanzones, and Manalipa, and 2 dump trucks for the City Engineer’s Office.

Local government officials and employees, representatives of different agencies, and students converged at City Hall grounds yesterday morning to extend their greetings and felicitations to Climaco upon her arrival at City Hall.

The City Hall activities were then by followed by the turnover of 433 houses on stilts for Vale Vista III in barangay Kasanyangan at the City Coliseum which forms part of the activities leading to the commemoration of the 2013 Zamboanga siege on Saturday, September 9.

Other activities for the commemoration will include mass services, bloodletting activity, and a program honouring heroes of the 2013 siege. (Jasmine Mohammadsali/PR)
