Son of Labason mayor seized by armed men Print

The son of the Mayor of Labason Municipality, Zamboanga del Norte Province was abducted  by six gunmen in Labasaon at around 6:45 p.m. of Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Information Officer identified the victim as Jelster Ed Quimbo y Tiu, 28, businessman and son of Mayor Eddie Quimbo of the same municipality.

Initial police investigation disclosed that the gunmen grabbed the young Quimbo and escaped on board a Red Van towards Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte.

At around 6:56 p.m., the get-away vehicle was recovered in Barangay Usukan of the same municipality.

Authorities suspect that the abductors boarded a seacraft bringing along their victim.

Policemen of Labason Municipal Police Station in coordination with the 42nd Infantry Battalion of Philippine Army have launched hot pursuit operation for the possible recovery of the victim.

Police Regional Director, Sr. Supt. Billy Beltran has alerted government forces in ZAMPEN and made necessary coordination with neighboring provinces.

The police official also appealed for the support and cooperation of the general public to immediately report to the PNP or to any other proper authority about the presence of the victim their area.
