Lamitan City Vice Mayor Roderick H. Furigay has diclosed that at least 16 barangays will soon have a good source of  potable water as pipe laying  construction work is now ongoing.

The source for the potable water system is from the barangay of Sitio Bulingan, Lamitan City. It has sufficent water supply and will also supply potable water to the neighboring Municipality of Tuburan.

Vice Mayor Furigay presided on Wednesday the regular session of the City Council where he initiated dialogue with officials of the Deparment of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Office, The Asap Construction Firm, Lamitan City  Water District Office and barangay officials of Bulingan,  Bolobo, Lo-ok, Arco, Cabobo, Colonia, Campo Uno, Bato, Kulaybato, Sengal, Balas, Calugusan, Luksumbang, Sta. Clara, Ubit and Boheya to ensure the smooth coordination between the concerned agencies and lot owners where the pipe laying project is being carried out.

According to the barangay officials of the 16 barangays, the water project should provide water to the barangays  where the pipe laying is now being constructed and is passing thru their barangays because the water source is from barangay Bulingan of the city.

The construction firm agreed that they will provide water to the affected barangays as agreed during the dialogue and in compliance with the resulotion adopted unanimously by the City Council.

Furigay also said that the Council also passed a resulotion stating that all military and police camps will be provided with potable water free of charges. (Allen Abastillas)
