A 31-year-old woman die in a fire that hit Southcom Village, Calarian yesterday afternoon.

The fatality was identified as Roma Sabado, single. She was trapped inside their burning house.

Initial investigation conducted by fire investigators disclosed that the fire started at the second floor of the two-storey house owned by Zenaida Sabado.

Roma and their housemaid were at the second floor of the house when the fire ignited.

Relatives said the housemaid tried to wake up Roma who was then sleeping, but after looking at the flames, the housemaid went out of the house leaving the former.

The remains of Roma was discovered near the main door of the house at the ground floor indicating that she was able to go down but failed to get out until she was trapped by the flames.

Aside from Sabado’s house, four other houses were partially burned and a salon including a lechon manok stand.

Fire investigators are still conducting a deeper investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the estimated damage to property. (Dan Toribio)
