DOT-IX to conduct ‘Farm-Tourism’ seminar Print

The Department of Tourism Regional Office-9 will be conducting a “Farm Tourism Seminar-Work Shop” in Zamboanga City.

The rationale of the farm tourism is to create a comprehensive farm circuit package intended for tourists both local and foreign, who are planning to come and visit the city.

The identified farm areas are NJB Farm in Ayala, Southland Farm, Dragon Fruit Gree Pastures Farm, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm and Evangelista Farm.

The test run of the farm package is slated on the last week of September while the launching will held on the 1st week of October, 2017,  in time for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

Meanwhile, DOT-9 will also sponsor a “Community Based Tourism Kulinarya  (Tourism Culinary ) Workshop” on September 11 to 12, 2017 in Dipolog City.

The workshop aims to enhance the skills of various communities in the region, especially those that are directly engaged in community based tourism in order to further improve the delivery of food services craftsmanship, taste  and quality. Kulinarya (culinary) wokshops are organized for the stakeholders in every communities in coordination with the local government units in the area. The workshop also envisions to train community members on how to prepare food for the visitors in a hygienic and presentable manner. (Allen Abastillas)
