LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`And the holy child that will be born will be called the Son of God…” (Luke 1:35, the Holy Bible).

CHRISTMAS: DID IT REALLY HAPPEN IN DECEMBER? In discharging my responsibilities to proclaim the Word of God and save souls based on the truth that Jesus is God and Savior in Las Pinas City last Sunday, September 10, 2017, someone asked me if Jesus was really born in December (see photos at

In my reply, I made it clear that, based on Luke 2 of the Bible, it would appear that Jesus was not born in December because, if He was indeed born in December, there must have been snow in Israel at that time, because December in that place is winter time. Fact is, in the Bible, the shepherds were then in the open field, and were looking after their sheep who were out in the field.

Be that as it may, I also stressed that it was not really important if festivities to commemorate the birth of Jesus are held in December. What is important is that mankind is celebrating the coming of God on earth, in the form of human, with flesh and blood, accepting in Himself the penalty for man’s sinfulness.

CHRISTMAS WAS FIRST PROPHESIED BEFORE IT HAPPENED: In relation to this, I already wrote something in this column in 2012 yet, and I wish to reiterate some of the more salient points. Let us read that column again: “Just for the record, Christmas is an event that was foretold even before it happened.

“A little research will show that there was a king whose kingdom was being threatened by an invasion of two bigger kingdoms. This caused fear on the king and his people, prompting God to send a messenger to tell the king and his people not to be needlessly afraid because the invasion will not be carried out anyway.

“The king did not readily believe the message given to him, so the messenger dared the king to ask God for a sign that the invasion will not really happen. But the king did not ask for a sign, saying he did not want to put God to a test. So the messenger gave a sign. He said, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, who will be called Emmanuel, which meant `God is with us’.

GOD HIMSELF CAME TO EARTH FROM HEAVEN IN THE FORM OF MAN:  “The messenger then declared that the son who has been born will also be called `Mighty God’ and `Everlasting Father’, who will reign on King David’s throne and kingdom, with justice and righteousness forever.

“Much later, an angel of God visited the virgin, and told her that she found favor with God and that, as a result, she will conceive and give birth to a son who will be called Jesus, `the Son of the Most High’, and who will be given the throne of King David where he will reign forever. The virgin, although greatly troubled, accepted her fate and said `let it be done unto me.

In fine, it is clear that all of these events took place as they were foretold by the Bible. God Himself came down to earth from heaven, in the form of man with flesh and blood, and accepted in Himself the penalty for man’s sins, so that anyone who accepts, receives, and believes in, Him as God and Savior would be given the right to become children of God.
