The Office of the City Veterinarian has lined up several activities aimed at promoting animal welfare as well as responsible pet ownership in the city.

Speaking to members of the local media during yesterday’s regular press briefing, City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Arriola personally revealed the events to be spearheaded by his office this month.

For the celebration of the World Health Day on September 25, OCVet has teamed up with Ateneo de Zamboanga University for the “Bring Your Dogs to Campus,” a whole day activity to be held within the university’s campus.

The office will also lead the observance of World Rabies Day. Dog owners and their pets are encouraged to join the “Walk in the Park” that will commence at the St. Francis House Rotunda to the Zamboanga City Water District Rotunda in Pasonanca.

The said walking event will be followed by a free spay and neuter program for dogs and cats. This is in partnership with the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association – Western Mindanao Chapter. Only the first 28 pet-and-owner pairs will be accommodated. (Claudine Uniana/PR)
