In a bid to make the city clean, Mayor Beng Climaco has directed the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) to conduct a seminar workshop among the different sectors particularly the barangay and local police about proper garbage disposal and segregation.

Mayor Climaco tasked Rodrigo Pagotaisidro , OCENR administrative officer IV, to organize the seminar where all stakeholders will be involved  especially barangay officials as well as purok leaders and members of the different police stations.

Pagotaisidro disclosed that the seminar workshop will be held on September 19 where all barangay within the 10-km city radius are mandated to attend.

“The seminar workshop aims to empower our barangay officials and purok leaders on proper waste disposal and scientific segregation of garbage. This is necessary for the OCENR to be able to expedite the collection of garbage in the different barangays,” Pagotaisidro told reporters in an interview.

The OCENR official said that despite the modern age there are still many households and even business establishments that have limited knowledge about the scientific and proper way on how to dispose their garbage.

He said that the city government is optimistic that with the support of the barangay and all the sectors, the city will have an effective waste management and disposal.

Pagotisdro said that the city will also ask the barangays and the different police precincts to really exert effort in the implementation ordinances regarding illegal garbage or waste disposal.

“We hope that with the cooperation of the community especially down to the barangay level we all can greatly help in the maintenance of cleanliness in the entire city-Jemuel E. Mojica
